- Know SQL and PostgreSQL well, and use SQL commands or tools like pgAdmin to work with databases and database objects
- Manage users, roles, permissions, and authentication methods for PostgreSQL databases
- Monitor and optimize the performance of PostgreSQL databases, and use tools like pg_stat_statements, EXPLAIN, and pgBench to analyze queries and workload
- Set up and maintain replication, backup, and recovery strategies for PostgreSQL databases, and use tools like pg_dump, pg_restore, and Barman to backup and restore data
- Work with different operating systems, and use command-line tools, scripts, and batch files to automate tasks
- Communicate effectively with other developers, users, and stakeholders, and document the database design, configuration, and maintenance procedures
- Learn new features and technologies related to PostgreSQL, and keep up with the latest updates and best practices
